Rogers starred as a first baseman for the Tigers from 1984-87, and posted a career batting average of .385, which ranks second in school history. He set the Mizzou career home run record with 45, a mark that stood for 21 years. He is also the MU record holder with a .695 career slugging percentage and ranks among the top 10 in career on-base percentage (third - .490), total bases (fifth – 410), extra-base hits (seventh – 89), runs batted in (tied for seventh – 171), walks drawn (tied for ninth – 122) and runs scored (10th – 166). Rogers was the Tigers’ top hitter with a .400-plus average in both 1986 and ’87. He launched 17 home runs in 1986, which was the school single-season record at the time. Rogers was named to the Big Eight Conference all-tournament team in 1986. He was selected in the 20th round of the 1987 MLB Draft by the Texas Rangers and played one year of minor league baseball.
