COLUMBIA, Mo. - Hitting the pool for the first time since competing in Texas, the Missouri men's swimming and diving team didn't take long to shake of the rust against Southern Illinois-Carbondale, winning 144-90 to defeat SIU Saturday afternoon at the Mizzou Aquatics Center.

In the men's 400 medley relay, the team of Jan Konarzewski, Michael Lopresti, Anders Melin and Yaniv Shnaider clocked in first with a time of 3:25.51, a good five seconds ahead of the Saluki team, with the second set of Tiger swimmers clocking in third in 3:32.11.

Spenser Lauver came in first in the men's 1000 free, finishing in a time of 9:33.17, while Vito Cammisano finished in second, clocking in at 9:35.14.

At the other end of the aquatics center, the men's 1-meter diving took the first three spots in the event, led by Greg DeStephen, who finished with a total of 363.97 points. Dante Jones took second place with 322.20 points, and Dallas Becerra finished in third with 280.65 points.

The two teams switched platforms, but the result was almost similar, with DeStephen taking the title in the men's 3-meter dive. DeStephen took first with 396.15 points.

In the 200 free, Ryan Sellers finished first in 1:40.97 and Jeff Hendricks finishing second in 1:41.73. Jordan Hawley took the top spot for the men in the 50 free, finishing in 20.74 seconds, while Melin took third in 21.85 seconds.

Hawley took his second individual title of the day in the men's 100 free, finishing ahead of Saluki swimmer Tony Bosquet in 45.88 seconds.

Shnaider earned his first individual title of the day in addition to the relay team win, finishing first in the 200 IM in 1:52.93. Shnaider almost pulled out a second title in one of the more exciting races, going head to head against SIU"s El Badrawi in the 500 free, and finished .10 seconds behind Badrawi in second place, clocking in at 4:39.85.

The men's side took the top three spots in the men's 200 back, led by Konarzewski who finished first in 1:47.87, John Higgins who finished second in 1:52.43 and Adam Abernathy who finished third in 1:54.06.

The Tigers will be back in action beginning Dec. 4 for the start of the Mizzou Invite.
