No. 14 Gymnastics Punches Ticket to Regional Final

COLUMBIA, Mo. - The No. 11 University of Missouri gymnastics erupted for the second-highest regional score in program history with a 197.400 in the NCAA Regional Second Round to advance to tomorrow's NCAA Los Angeles Regional Final. UCLA won the session with a 198.275, followed by the Tigers in second with a 197.400, Stanford in third with a 197.275 and Boise State in fourth with a 196.225.

As the top two finishers in the evening session, Mizzou and UCLA advance to face No. 5 Utah and Washington, the top two finishers in the afternoon session, in the regional final at 7 p.m. CT on Saturday. The top two teams from the regional final will advance to the national championships.

During the meet, the Tigers set program regional score records, on beam and vault. 

#MIZ Notables

  • In the first rotation, Sienna Schreiber sat in the leadoff position scoring a 9.875. Alonna Kratzer notched a 9.775, while Amari Celestine notched a 9.825. The fifth Alisa Sheremeta notched a 9.875 in the fourth position. Jocelyn Moore and Hannah McCrary notched the team high 9.9. Mizzou tallied a team total of 49.375 on floor. 
  • On vault, Sienna Schreiber carried the momentum over from floor scoring a 9.900. Grace Anne Davis notched a 9.850. Moore and Celestine both earned a 9.900. The Tigers earned a 49.400 which is the highest regional vault score. 
  • In the third rotation, Celestine opened up the rotation with a strong 9.825. Both Schreiber and Moore notched a team-high 9.850. Burns rounded out the lineup by notching a 9.825. Mizzou notched a team total of 49.150. 
  • In the final rotation, the Tigers set a new regional program-high on beam with a 49.475. In the leadoff position Addison Lawrence notched a beam scoring a 9.8, Schaffer also notched a 9.875. Davis and Hu notched a 9.90. Sheremeta notched a team-high 9.950.

   The Tigers will face No. 4 UCLA, No. 5 Utah and Washington in the NCAA Los Angeles Regional Final on Saturday, April 1 at 7 p.m. CT.
