Columbia, Mo. – University of Missouri Swim and Dive completed its long course trials qualifier on Saturday, Nov. 18 inside the Mizzou Aquatic Center. Tiger swimmers paced the field in 12 of the day's 24 events.
Additionally, 29 podium positions were occupied by MU. Francesca Smith clipped the fastest time in two events, a 56.36 standing in the women's 100 free while also tapping the wall in 25.92 seconds in the women's 50 free.
The long course trials qualifier was completed in preparation for a loaded 2024 in the swimming and diving world. Along with the NCAA Championships in March, the World Aquatic Championship goes live from Doha, Qatar in February and the 30th edition of the Summer Olympics takes place in Paris in July.
NOTABLE RESULTS
- Both 200 fly events were claimed by Tigers: Emily Roden clinched with a time of 2:14.63, while Jan Zubik went fastest with a 2:00.84.
- Additionally, both 400 free events were won by MU: Jane Smith paced the field with a 4:25.47 and Leo Kurucz garnered a time of 4:08.01.
- Peyton Drexler went fastest in the women's 200 free with a 2:07.16, while Calvin Windle posted a 1:51.64 in the same event to go fastest in the men's heat.
- Missouri swept the podium in the women's 100 fly, highlighted by Kylee Sullivan's 1:01.75 standing.
- Frederik Rindshøj claimed the men's 100 free title in 50.75.
- Abbey Taute earned the top spot in the women's 200 back with a mark of 2:18.76.
- John Watson clinched the men's 400 IM with a 4:38.23 standing.
UP NEXT
The Tigers travel in-state for the second time this season, the next trip being to Springfield to take on Missouri State on Dec. 2. Action is slated to begin at 11 a.m. and live results can be found via the Meet Mobile app.
