OXFORD, Miss. – University of Missouri track and field collected points in the 3,000-meter steeplechase, long jump and heptathlon on day two of the SEC Outdoor Track and Field Championships on Friday.
In the 3,000m steeplechase, Melissa Menghini finished seventh (10:19.87) and Royce Fisher was eighth with a personal best of 9:04.22. In the long jump, Ayele Gerken was seventh with a leap of 20-8 / 6.30m, a personal best. The mark moves her to No. 4 on the top-10 performers list.
In her first collegiate heptathlon, Isabella Sokolova finished sixth with 5,037 points. On Friday, she set personal bests in the long jump (19-7 / 5.97m), the javelin (122-7 / 37.37m) and the 800m (2:23.90). On Thursday, she clocked a 14.15 in the 100m hurdles and a 25.07 in the 200m, cleared 4-67.75 in the high jump and tossed a 29-10 in the shot put.
Mizzou will have two runners in Saturday's 1,500m final. Martin Prodanov was second in heat one to advance automatically (3:52.17). Davis Helmrich was fifth in heat two and advanced on time (3:45.77).
In the high jump, Claudina Diaz was ninth, clearing 5-6 / 1.68m. In the shot put, Emily Stauffer was 13th (50-2.75 / 15.31m) while Emily Offenheiser was 15th (47-9 / 14.55m).
Competition at the SEC Outdoor Track and Field Championships continues Saturday, May 14 with field events at 12:30 p.m. and track events at 5:15 p.m.
