STARKVILLE, Miss. – In the team's final road match of the regular season, the University of Missouri (7-17, 2-9 SEC) defeated No. 63 Mississippi State in the final game of the match, 4-3. This season marks the first time the program scored two regular season SEC wins since the 2016-17 season. 

Mizzou came prepared to compete against Mississippi State. After dropping the doubles point, the team had to rally in singles play. Elys Ventura scored the first point for the Tigers, beating Tamara Racine, 6-4, 6-1, and tying the match score at one apiece. The Bulldogs pulled back ahead with a singles win in the number one slot, but Romary Cardenas countered with a second set comeback against Marta Falceto, 6-4, 7-5. Now tied 2-2, Mississippi State once again took the lead. With two matches left in play, Ellie Wright and Gabriela Martinez both needed to win in order to take the match. Wright dominated the third set against Magda Adaloglou, 5-7, 6-3, 6-3. Martinez once again clinched a match for the Tigers in her third set versus Mikhailuk, 3-6, 6-3, 7-5. This victory marks the Tigers second SEC win of the season and second straight win against the Bulldogs. 

"The team has been getting a little better each match this year. We are peaking at the correct time" said head coach Chris Wootton. "We played great on all six courts and came together as a team. We are excited about coming home and getting more SEC next weekend!"
