Mizzou Football officially opened its 2019 fall training camp with the first of 17 practices that will fall between today and game week vs. Wyoming. After moving into the program's brand new, $98 million facility last night, energy was high on the Kadlec Practice Fields as the players were excited to back out playing football after months of conditioning and training.
With roster news put out earlier this week, there were very few roster notes that came from Friday's initial practice. However, Coach Odom confirmed with the media following practice that QB Shawn Robinson, who transferred to Mizzou from TCU in the winter, would not be eligible to play this season after his appeal for immediate eligibility was denied by the NCAA.
Mizzou took part in plenty of drills on day one as the team will not put on full pads until next week. That being said, plenty of players made noticeable plays on day one, but the eyes of nearly 50 media members in attendance were on QB Kelly Bryant as he worked with skill position players for much of practice. Senior CB Richaud Floyd made an impressive interception late in practice that got the sideline hyped as well. The teams also did some seven-on-seven and special teams work on day one.
This season, Mizzou Football is continuing its tradition of introducing its new scholarship players with the annual Rookie Report. First up is a St. Louis connection as senior DB Ronnell Perkins introduces us to freshman S and St. Louis native Jalani Williams. Watch the video here.
Mizzou will enter the 2019 season coming off consecutive winning campaigns, and the Tigers will begin the year at Wyoming (Aug. 31), before a five-game home stand begins Sept. 7 against West Virginia.
