AUSTIN, Texas. – Two individuals and a relay all claimed All-America honorable mention accolades for the Mizzou women's swimming and diving team on Friday at the 2019 NCAA Women's NCAA Swimming and Diving Championships in Austin, Texas.
Senior Annie Ochitwa (Highlands Ranch, Colo.) and junior Haley Hynes (Lee's Summit, Mo.), as well as the 200 medley relay, all earned top 12 finishes during day three action on Friday.
The Tigers sit 20th in the team standings with 42 points after three days of competition.
KEY PERFORMANCES
Ochitwa won the 100 fly consolation final to finish ninth overall in the event and claim All-America honorable mention honors. It was the third time she took home All-America accolades in the event, as she placed eighth in 2018 and ninth in 2016 while at Arizona. She swam times of 51.36 in prelims and 51.47 in the consolation final.
Also claiming All-America honorable mention honors was Hynes in the 100 back. After a personal-best time of 51.15 in morning action, Hynes swam a 51.60 in the consolation final to finish 12th overall. Also an All-America honorable mention honoree last season, she bettered her 2018 finish of 13th by one spot.
The Tigers closed the evening with a 10th-place finish in the 200 medley relay for All-America honorable mention honors. Hynes, sophomore Emily Snyder (Canton, Ga.), Hynes and sophomore Sarah Thompson (Collierville, Tenn.) combined for a 1:36.58 in the consolation final, just off the prelims time of 1:56.56. Freshman Kayla Jones (St. Charles, Mo.) also claimed All-America honorable mentions accolades in the event as she swam on Mizzou's prelims relay.
In addition to Hynes and Ochitwa, Thompson, senior Kylie Dahlgren (Victoria, Minn.) and junior Jennifer King (Glasgow, Scotland) also competed on Friday in the 100 back.
Thompson led the way with a 52.54 for 30th, while Dahlgren (53.17) finished 42nd and King (54.44) 54th.

"We knew we needed to get it done in the morning and we put our best swims forth. I thought the women did an incredible job, unfortunately we just fell on the wrong side of the line all three times, with ninth in the 100 fly, ninth in the 100 back and ninth in the 200 medley relay (in prelims). Tonight we did everything we could to hold our spots and we were either there or close. Tomorrow morning is another opportunity."
