Jacobs records the second best hammer throw mark in outdoor program history

FAYETTE, Mo. – Nine Mizzou Track & Field throwers competed in the Central Methodist Open on Saturday, with the Tigers sweeping first place finishes in all eight events they had student-athletes competing in. Highlighting the day for the Tigers was redshirt sophomore Gabi Jacobs (Bloomington, Ill.), who recorded the second longest discus throw in outdoor program history with a first place finish.

Jacobs produced a throw of 54.15 (177-7.75) to record a first place finish in the discus and surpass Jill Rushin's mark of 53.39m (175-2) on the all-time outdoor list. Jacobs now only trails Kearsten Peoples' mark of 57.31m (188-0) in outdoor program history. She also competed in the shot put, posting a first place throw of 14.51m (47-7.25).
