CARBONDALE, Ill. – The Mizzou men's and women's swimming and diving teams won seven events during day one action at the Saluki Invite Friday evening in Carbondale, Illinois. Halfway through competition, the Tiger men hold a 120-28 lead over host Southern Illinois, a 116-32 advantage over Northwestern and trail Kentucky 83-65. The women lead Southern Illinois 112-36 and trail Kentucky 85.5-62.5.

KEY PERFORMERS

Senior Sharli Brady (Burlington, Kentucky) led the Tiger charge with a pair of individual wins on Friday.  She opened the day with a time of 2:02.43 in the 200 IM to touch first, and added a victory in the 200 fly after a swim of 2:00.83. The wins were the second and third of the year for Brady, who also earned top honors in the 200 IM at the Show-Me Showdown.

Other Tiger individual winners on the day were junior Annie Ochitwa (Highlands Ranch, Colorado) and sophomore Giovanny Lima (Sao Paulo, Brazil). Ochitwa finished first in the 100 free after a time of 50.89 and Lima placed first in the 500 free after touching in 4:26.97, a time that ranks him 21st nationally in the event.
