@MizzouSoccer Heads to Alabama, Vanderbilt in Important Two-Game Stretch

Mizzou faces Alabama on Friday, Oct. 23 at 7 p.m. and Vanderbilt on Sunday, Oct. 25 at 1 p.m.

COLUMBIA, Mo. - The Mizzou soccer team hits the road for a pair of important Southeastern Conference matches this weekend. The Tigers face Alabama on Friday, Oct. 23 at 7 p.m. before a 1 p.m. contest at Vanderbilt on Sunday, Oct. 25. Both matches will be broadcast live on SEC Network + and the WatchESPN app. 

TIGER TIDBITS

  • Mizzou leads the all-time series with Vanderbilt, 3-0-2, and are tied in the series with Alabama, 1-1-0.
  • Mizzou went recorded a 3-1 win over Tennessee in its only match last weekend.
  • The Tigers scored three goals on a Volunteer defense that entered the match having allowed only eight goals in 14 games.
  • Missouri has scored 12 goals in its last six games for a 2.0 goals per match average over that span. The previous five games, the Tigers averaged only 0.4 goals per game.
  • The Mizzou defense has allowed only 13 goals in 15 games this season, which is the third-lowest goals allowed output over the first 15 matches in program history.
  • Additionally, Missouri allows only 0.81 goals per game to its opponents, a figure that ranks second in the SEC.
  • With only three games remaining in the regular season, the Tigers are tied for first in the SEC standings with 16 points.
  • Mizzou notched its fourth shutout of the season against Georgia on Oct. 11 in a 2-0 win. It marked the first career shutout for redshirt sophomore keeper Kristen Rivers
  • Sophomore Savannah Trujillo leads the Tigers with four goals on the year, three of which have come in SEC play. 
  • Also with multiple goals this season are redshirt redshirt junior Jessica Herrman, seniors Lauren Flynn, Candace Johnson and Reagan Russell, and sophomores Jessica Johnson and Alli Magaletta. Herrman has three goals, all in SEC play, while Flynn, Candace Johnson, Jessica Johnson, Magaletta and Russell all have two. 
  • Redshirt sophomore keeper Kristen Rivers has started the last seven games in net for Mizzou and boasts a 1.08 GAA and a .750 save percentage.
