A cool, rainy afternoon in Columbia didn't keep Mizzou Softball from a pair of fall exhibition games on Friday, as the Tigers split a pair of preseason tune-ups, earning an 8-1 win over Butler County Community College, before dropping a 4-2 decision to Jefferson College.

Head Coach Ehren Earleywine was able to get several Tigers early-season playing experience in the two games and Nicole Hudson earned yet another win on the mound leading the Tigers to that game one win.

Hudson scattered five hits over five innings of work and Kelsea Roth blasted a pair of home runs to fuel the victory. Overall Roth drove in four runs in three official plate appearances, including the game's first run on a sacrifice fly in the first inning.

Missouri added two more runs in the second, capitalizing on a BCCC error and a double from Carlie Rose. Rose drove a double over the head of the BCCC centerfielder and later scored on the error.

Butler County cut the lead to 3-1 in the fourth, but a solo blast from Roth in the fifth and a four-run sixth inning iced the contest. Brianna Corwin led off the sixth with a single and later scored on an Emily Crane double. Hudson then singled before Roth ripped her second homer of the day, a three-run shot, over the wall in right.

Game Two
Jefferson College earned a 4-2 victory in the nightcap. Starting pitcher Chelsea Smith struck out a pair of Tigers and limited Mizzou to just three hits and two runs over seven innings of work. She did walk in a run in the sixth inning and allowed a solo blast to Hudson in the second.

Lindsey Muller shook off some early-game rust and pitched well for Missouri. She threw six-plus innings and allowed just two earned runs. Jefferson College did score two unearned runs as well, proving to be the difference.

Mizzou returns to action next Friday at 3:30 p.m. The Tigers will play a double-header against Crowder and Heartland at University Field.
