COLUMBIA, Mo. – The No. 12 Missouri softball team completed the two-game sweep over No. 20 Texas A&M with a 3-0 victory on Sunday, backed by a complete game shutout by Chelsea Thomas. The victory improves the Tigers to 32-5 on the season and pushes their conference record to 7-1.

Thomas moved to 17-3 on the year, as she tossed her eighth shutout of the season. The Pleasantville, Iowa native allowed just four hits, walked only one and struck out nine.
Neither team produced much offense until the Tigers got things going with a run in the bottom of the fourth. Senior
Rhea Taylor busted out of her slump and jumpstarted the Missouri offense by leading the inning off with a bunt single and advancing to second base on an errant throw by the Aggie pitcher. She would move up to third on a ground out, and touched home when
Ashley Fleming hit a slow roller back to Lindsey Sisk, the Texas A&M pitcher. Sisk had trouble fielding it cleanly, forcing her to get the sure out at first base.
In the fifth, Taylor got the offense rolling again with a two-out single through the left side, roping the first pitch she saw past the third baseman. Moving up to third on the play was
Abby Vock, who walked ahead of Taylor, and she scored when
Jenna Marston hit a liner into the gap in left-center for a double.
Princess Krebs added an insurance run in the bottom of the sixth, coming through with a pinch hit single back up the middle. With one out in the inning,
Nicole Hudson drew a walk and
Mackenzie Sykes legged out an infield single to put two on. Two batters later, Krebs hit a soft liner over the pitcher's head and off the second base bag as it ricocheted into the outfield which allowed Hudson to score.
Thomas worked a flawless top of the seventh, getting the last batter to strike out looking, ending the game. Taylor's two hits led the way for Missouri, while six others picked up hits on the day.
The Tigers will hit the road on Wednesday for a single game against the Northern Iowa Panthers in Cedar Falls, Iowa, before returning home for a big two-game set against the No. 14/15 Oklahoma Sooners. Wednesday's game with the Panthers starts at 3 p.m. CT.
