COLUMBIA, Mo. - Junior Mary Burke has been named Gymnast of the Week by the Big 12 Conference Tuesday (Feb. 8). The honor is the third of the season for Burke and it is the fourth of her career. At Missouri's home meet against Nebraska last weekend she earned a career-high 39.450 all-around score, which earned her the fourth all-around title in her career.
In the Big 12 Conference rankings, Burke currently sits third in the all-around and on the beam. She also checks in at No. 20 in the nation on beam.
Burke put up several season-high scores at the meet, including a 9.825 on vault and a 9.875 on bars. She recorded a 9.850 on beam and a season-high 9.900 on floor to contribute to the Tigers' season-best 195.400 score. Burke took the bars title at the meet and tied for first place on floor with sophomore teammate, Lauren Swankoski.
The Tigers host the Fighting Illini this weekend at Missouri's annual Pink Out. One dollar from every ticket sold will go to support breast cancer research, and the first 500 fans to arrive at the Hearnes Center will receive a free t-shirt.
