Columbia, Mo. - The men's swimming and diving team had an impressive showing on the first day of the Mizzou Invitational. Mizzou hosted men's teams from Drury University, Missouri S&T, Saint Louis University, and the University of North Dakota.

Missouri took the first and third spots in the 200 yard freestyle relay with the team of John Krause, Joe Hladik, Mark Conroy, and Ramom Melo placing first in 1:20.57, and the team of Neil O'Halloran, Adam Abernathy, Ryan Chiero, and Sam Tierney placing third in 1:22.75.

In a dominant 100 yard butterfly event, the Tigers swept the top three spots with O'Halloran in first with 47.58, Jason King in second with 49.17, and Krause in third with 49.57. O'Halloran's time met the NCAA qualifying B standard. The Tigers swept the top three spots in another event, a stellar 200 yard IM. Yaniv Shnaider placed first in 1:47.28, Igor Kozlovskij took second in 1:48.00, and Mak Darragh finished third in 1:48.63. All three swimmers me the NCAA qualifying B standard.

The men's side also saw success in the 500 yard freestyle. Eegan Groome shaved almost 4 seconds off his preliminary time to take the first place spot in 4:21.89, breaking the All-Time Missouri record of Dylan Lynn (4:24.78) and meeting the NCAA qualify B standard. Connor Nolan placed third in 4:27.72.

In the 50 yard freestyle, Mizzou took the second place spot with Melo notching a time of 20.44. In the 400 yard medley relay the team Abernathy, Conroy, Darragh, and Krause placed first with a time of 3.17.50 while the relay team of Hladik, Michael Lopresti, King, and Nola placed third with a time of 3:20.81.

In the 1 mtr diving event, David Bonuchi placed first with a score of 373.95 , while Mitch Harris placed second with 304.75 points. Both divers met the NCAA qualifying diving standards for the 1 mtr diving event.
