COLUMBIA, Mo.- - The Mizzou baseball team dropped both games of a Saturday doubleheader with Baylor at Taylor Stadium. The Tigers fell 20-6 in game one, before taking a 7-3 loss in the nightcap. Baylor improved to 15-9 overall and 3-3 in the Big 12 Conference with the two wins, while Missouri is now 14-11 on the year and 1-4 in the Big 12.

Junior Nick Tepesch came within one out of recording his first career complete game in the second game of the day, turning in a career-long 8.2 innings pitched. He struck out five and allowed seven runs, only four of which were earned, on seven hits.

Baylor scored single runs in the second, third, fourth, sixth and seventh innings, holding a 5-0 lead before the Tigers plated a run in the bottom half of the seventh inning, scoring on doubles by freshman Blake Brown and sophomore pinch hitter Ben Turner.

Missouri cut the lead to three with a run in the eighth inning as junior Brett Nicholas doubled and scored on a single off the bat of freshman Dane Opel. Opel had two hits in each game of the doubleheader and drove in a pair of runs.

The Bears tacked on a pair of unearned runs in the top of the ninth and Mizzou plated one in the bottom of the inning on an RBI double by junior Andrew Thigpen.

The loss in the opener was the second-straight lopsided defeat for the Tigers to Baylor after falling by a score of 19-0 in the finale of last year's series in Waco, Texas. The 20 runs in the game were the most runs allowed by the Tigers since a 22-4 loss to Oklahoma in 2008.

Baylor did all of its scoring in three innings, putting five runs on the board in the second inning, seven in the seventh and eight in the eighth.

Missouri scored once in the fourth inning and put up a five spot in the bottom of the sixth to take a 6-5 lead before the Bears scored 15 runs over the next two innings.

Freshman Eric Anderson got the start in game one for the Tigers and turned in a career-long six innings of work on the mound. He struck out four batters, allowing five runs on five hits. He left with the lead but took a no decision.

Senior Aaron Senne had a hit in each game to extend hits hitting streak to 10 games. He drove in two runs in game one and moved into a tie for fourth place with Aaron Jaworowski (1995-97) on the Missouri career RBI list.

The final game of the series is set for 1 p.m. on Sunday at Taylor Stadium.
