COLUMBIA, Mo. – The No. 4/3 Missouri softball team (12-2) jumped out early once again and cruised to a 9-3 victory over UMKC on Sunday, giving the Tigers a perfect 4-0 record at the Missouri Breast Cancer Awareness Tournament and their 10th win in a row overall.

On the weekend, the Tigers outscored their opponents 36-3, while outhitting their in-state foes by a 37-10 margin.  Missouri's four pitchers combined for a 0.88 ERA, while recording three shutouts.  The foursome also struck out 27 batters and walked just two.

Sophomore Kristin Nottelmann (3-1) earned the win on Sunday, her second of the weekend.  She pitched four shutout innings of relief, giving up one hit and one walk while striking out four.  She finished the weekend with a record of 2-0, allowing no runs in her two appearances.  She fanned 11 hitters and walked just one.

Junior Marla Schweisberger and freshman Jenna Marston ignited the Missouri offense, as each went 2-for-4 on the day.  Schweisberger doubled twice and drove in three runs, while Marston connected on her first career home run at MU, a three-run blast.

The Tigers pushed a run across in the first inning on a bases loaded single by Marston.  Missouri extended their lead to 5-0 in the second with a four-run frame.  Junior Shana White drove in her first run of the year with a single up the middle.  She finished the day 3-for-4 at the plate with two runs and two stolen bases.  Schweisberger then connected on her first double of the game, driving in two.  An error by UMKC's second baseman plated Schweisberger for Missouri's fourth run of the inning.

The Roos pushed across their three runs in the bottom of the third to make it a 5-3 game.  After loading the bases with nobody out, UMKC used a two run double and a sacrifice fly to cut into the Missouri lead.  That would be the only time the Kangaroos would score, however, as Missouri would hold UMKC scoreless over the last four innings.

Mizzou's last four runs came in the sixth, highlighted by Marston's home run.  The left-handed Marston took first pitch she saw opposite field over the left field fence for a three-run shot.  Earlier in the inning, Schweisberger doubled again, scoring White.

Missouri will host a midweek game against Northern Iowa this Wednesday, March 10, beginning at 3 p.m. CT.  Stay tuned to mutigers.com for more information.
