COLUMBIA, Mo.- - Missouri picked up doubleheader sweep over North Dakota, taking wins by scores of 7-3 and 6-0 on Friday at Taylor Stadium. It was the Tigers first sweep of a doubleheader since taking two wins over Toledo onMarch 16, 2008. Junior Brett Nicholas had three hits, including two home runs, in the two games and extended his hitting streak to eight games.

In game one of the day, Nicholas hit two home runs, finishing 2-for-4 with four RBI. He is the second Tiger to record a multi-home run game this year as senior Aaron Senne hit two against Auburn on Feb. 27.

After UND put the game's first run on the board in the second inning, the Tigers plated four runs in the third inning, which included a two-run home run by Nicholas. His second homer of the game came in the sixth inning, a solo shot.

Freshman Blake Brown and senior Michael Liberto also recorded two hits in the opener.

Nicholas had a single in the second inning of game two to extend hit streak to eight games. Missouri opened the third inning of the nightcap with consecutive singles by junior Jonah Schmidt, junior Andrew Thigpen and senior Michael Liberto. All three would score in the inning to put the Tigers up 3-0.

Freshman Eric Garcia hit his first career home run, connecting on a three-run homer in the bottom of the sixth. Senne had two hits in game two and has moved into sole possession of eighth place on Mizzou's career RBI list with 168. Junior Nick Tepesch improved to 2-0 on the year by picking up the victory. He allowed just three hits in six scoreless innings of work, striking out eight.

Missouri is now 10-6 on the year. The final game of the three-game series is set for 1 p.m. on Saturday at Taylor Stadium.
