Oklahoma City, Okla.  – A program and league high 12 Tigers were awarded Academic All-Big 12 Softball honors as announced today by the conference office.  Eleven Missouri players were awarded first team accolades, with one named to the second team.  Senior second baseman Andee Allen (Barnhart, Mo.) was one of four Big 12 softball players recognized with a 4.00 grade-point average and the first since 2007 graduate Kathy Masterson to accomplish such a feat.

In addition to Allen, seniors Katie Milles, Micaela Minner and Lindsey Ubrun were named to the first team, as were juniors Jana Hainey, Gina Schneider, Julie Silver and Michaele Vock and sophomore teammates Megan Christopher, Marla Schweisberger and Abby Vock.  To qualify for first team honors, a student-athlete must have maintained a 3.20 GPA or better and have participated in 60 percent of her team's scheduled contests.  Freshmen and transfers are not eligible in their first year of academic residence.  Senior student-athletes who have participated for a minimum of two years and meet all the criteria except percent of participation are also eligible.

Missouri's second team honoree, senior Stacy Delaney, earned her first career nod and maintained a cumulative GPA between 3.00 and 3.19.    

A total of 72 players from around the league landed on the 2009 Academic All-Big 12 Team with Missouri leading the Conference with its 12 honorees.  The most honorees Missouri ever had prior to 2009 was eight set during the 2006 campaign.
