Junior Greg Folgia hit two home runs and drove in a career-best five and senior Austin Holt set new career highs with three hits and three RBI as Missouri defeated No. 21 Kansas State by a score of 11-6 on Saturday afternoon in Manhattan, Kan.
The victory is the fourth in a row for the Tigers, matching their longest winning streak of the season.
For the second-straight day, Mizzou (21-19, 8-9 Big 12) had to come from behind to capture the win. The Tigers trailed 5-0 after two innings on Saturday, before scoring a run in the third inning on a double by Holt. They then took the lead after a five-run fourth inning, which included Fogia's first home run of the game.
The first six batters for the Tigers in the fourth inning reached and five would score. Along with Folgia's two-run shot, senior Steve Gray had an RBI single and MU had sacrifice flies from Holt and junior Michael Liberto in the inning.
KSU (28-11, 7-7) quickly tied the score as Adam Muenster hit a solo home run in the bottom of the fourth.
But Mizzou responded by scoring four times in the sixth, which started with a Liberto double and an RBI single from Holt. Later in the inning, Folgia connected for a three-run homer to give the Tigers a 10-6 lead. They would add to that lead with a run in the eighth inning.
"It was a great comeback for us," Head Coach Tim Jamieson said. "We fought and scratched and didn't give up. We were able to keep the momentum on our side by scoring some runs. We have executed for four-straight games now and that has helped our confidence."
Folgia finished the day 2-for-4 with five RBI and two runs scored. The last Tiger to have a two-home run game was Jacob Priday on May 2, 2008. That also came against Kansas State. It was Folgia's first career multi-home run game.
Holt was 3-for-3 with three RBI and a run scored. Senior Ryan Lollis also had two hits in the game and has a six-game hitting streak in tact.
Mizzou used eight pitchers in the game with sophomore Kelly Fick picking up the win. Fick pitched 1.1 scoreless innings and improves to 2-3 win the victory.
Missouri, who rallied for four runs in the ninth inning in Friday's series opener to win 4-3, will go for the series sweep on Sunday. First pitch for the finale is set for 1 p.m. at Tointon Stadium.
