Tigers Finish Day Two of Gopher Invitational

Minneapolis, Minn. - The University of Missouri women's tennis team completed the second day of action at the Gopher Invitational in Minneapolis. Highlighting the action, the Mizzou duo of Amanda Pratzel and Erika Josbena advanced to the North bracket final. In singles play, Chrissy Svetlic advanced to the third place match of the Gold bracket and Raquel Wagner advanced to the Championship match of the Minnesota draw.

Pratzel and Josbena began the day by defeating the tournament's No. 1 seed, the 50-th ranked Iowa duo of Jacqueline Lee and Hillary Mintz, 8-1, in the quarterfinals of the North bracket Pratzel and Josbena then faced Boston University's Lefkowitz and Katims in the semifinals. The match was tied at 8-8, and Pratzel and Josbena won the tiebreak, wining the match, 9-8 (2). The Tiger duo will try to earn their second doubles tournament championship of the fall when they face Iowa's Beryy and Klockenga Sunday at 9 a.m. (CT).

The Tiger duo of Kaitlin Dunham and Chrissy Svetlic lost their quarterfinal match in the North bracket. They also lost their consolation match.

In the Star doubles bracket, the Tiger duo of Katelyn McKenzie and Raquel Wagner advanced to the consolation final by defeating Minnesota's Claypool and Tusler, 8-1.

In the Minnesota bracket, Wagner defeated Wichita State's Olga Elkin, 6-1, 6-2, to advance to the bracket's Championship match. McKenzie defeated Wisconsin-Green Bay's Heather Harding to advance to the Consolation Championship.

In the Gold bracket, Svetlic lost in the semifinals to Minnesota's Tijana Koprivica. She will face Boston University's Cori Lefkowitz in Sunday's third place match. Also in the Gold draw, Charlotte Bellis lost her match in the consolation bracket.

In the Maroon Singles flight, the tournament's strongest bracket, Josbena won her match in the consolation bracket by default, and Pratzel lost in her match, also in the consolation bracket.

The Tigers will finish the Gopher Invitational Sunday morning in Minneapolis, Minn.
