No. 9 Missouri Picks Up Sweep Over CMSU

The No. 9 Missouri Tigers dominated Central Missouri State on Wednesday as they picked up a 41-0 win by sweeping all ten bouts on the night.

The Tigers' opened the dual with a pin from sophomore Scott Barker over Brett Barbarick. Barker improved to 18-2 on the year and picked up his tenth pin of the season.

Junior Kevin Herron recorded a 3-0 decision over Willie McCowan at heavyweight. Herron is now 16-10 and 10-6 in duals this season.

At 125 pounds, junior Mark Bader recorded a major decision over Ian McGeroge with a 10-0 score. The win moved Bader to 14-12 on the season.

Freshman Chris McCormick picked up a 4-1 decision over Luke Shaw in the 133-pound match to improve his record to 10-12 on the season.

In the 141-pound battle, sophomore J.P. Reese recorded the Tigers' second fall of the night by pinning CMSU's Drew Passley. Reese is now 19-5 overall this season and has a team leading 11 pins.

Sophomore Jeremy Spates defeated Eric Pizzi with a 15-8 decision to improve his record to 19-5 and 11-2 in dual competition.

At 157 pounds, sophomore Kenny Burleson scored a major decision victory over Jared Lien 14-6. Burleson is now 14-8 on the year with a 9-3 dual record.

Redshirt freshman Tyron Woodley improved to 16-6 on the year after defeating Alibek Pardakulov 5-1 in the 165-pound match.

Tiger senior John Kopnisky recorded his 100th win as a Tiger by pinning Lee Gatlin in the first period. Kopnisky becomes the eighth wrestler in MU history to record 100 career victories. He improved his season record to 20-4 with the win.

Junior Dante Stone downed John Rolling with a 5-2 decision. Stone now stands 15-8 on the year with a 9-5 record.

Missouri is now 14-2 on the season. The 14 wins are the most for a MU wrestling team since the 1983-84 squad went 14-9-1.

The Tigers will be back in action at 12:30 p.m. on Sunday as they host Northern Illinois in the Hearnes Center Fieldhouse.
