LUBBOCK, Texas - Kliff Kingsbury completed 49 of 70 passes for 510 yards and five touchdowns as Texas Tech beat Missouri 52-38 Saturday night.

Kingsbury broke his own school records for completions, attempts and yards and also became the 20th passer in Division I-A history to reach 10,000 career yards.

He came in needing 182 yards to become the first Red Raiders quarterback with 10,000, and he had that by the first quarter.

Texas Tech's defense kept Missouri (3-4, 0-3 Big 12) in check most of the first half, and the Red Raiders (5-3, 2-1) moved at will. They ended with up 606 yards of offense.

Tech took a quick 14-3 lead with Kingsbury's 13-yard touchdown pass to Anton Paige and a 35-yarder to Nehemiah Glover that capped a 98-yard drive. Glover also caught TD passes of 8 yards and 1 yard.

Two possessions later, Missouri quarterback Brad Smith hit Justin Gage with a 53-yard touchdown pass to make it 14-10.

Tech's Robert Treece kicked a field goal, but a 6-yard run by Missouri's T.J. Leon ended an 80-yard march and made it 17-17. The Red Raiders scored two more touchdowns to lead 31-17 at halftime.

Tech scored on its first possession of the third quarter - a first for the Red Raiders this season - to put the game out of reach.

With Tech holding a 52-31 lead late in the fourth, Shirdonya Mitchell returned a kickoff 89 yards to set up the Tigers' final score, a 23-yard pass from Smith to Gage.

Gage, who came in averaging eight catches and led the Big 12 with 49, caught five passes for 114 yards and two touchdowns.

Smith finished 20-for-32 passing for 275 yards and three touchdowns. He had been averaging 106 yards rushing but was held to just 21 on the ground.
